Miracles are hard to come by these days, but there’s no better way to describe the abandoned dog who almost froze to death after being left to die in a dumpster on Christmas day.

Fortunately, somebody heard the young dog crying for help and called the police, according to WSBTV. When police arrived, they discovered a freezing, underweight dog that had been cruelly thrown out with the trash. The dog was taken to an animal hospital in Atlanta right away, but nobody was sure if she would make it.

Manager Penny Jenkins of Atlanta West Veterinary Hospital, where doctors rushed to save the young dog, said of her, “She was frozen almost solid and Doc thought three times he was going to have to put her down.” Jenkins, whose colleagues chose the name Miracle for the saved dog, said, “But she kept on fighting and so did we.”

Police are still racing to find the cruel person who left this dog to freeze to death on Christmas Day. Anyone with information is urged to get in touch with Sergeant Finley of the Villa Rica Police Department at 678-840-1314 or [email protected] (All tips are anonymous.)

But even while officers search for Miracle’s assailant, things are finally starting to look up for this sweet dog. The stray dog is not only getting stronger every day, but the officer who saved her life has already adopted her.

“Miracle went to her new fur-ever home yesterday with the officer who found her!!!” veterinary staff wrote on Facebook. She is doing fantastic, and we will check on her again the next day to make sure everything in her tiny body is working as it should. I want to thank everyone for their prayers, donations, and messages. She is everyone’s true Christmas Miracle.

Congratulations, Miracle! We’re so happy that you’ve finally found the loving home you deserve!
